Okay. Let's try the post WITH text.
A supers game. Set in Omnimegaopolis City.
The Heroes have left, to fight a Big Galatic Evil. They lost. The Evil proceeded to create Disco, and other such terrible acts. Earth is now left without champions to defend it against evil alien invasions and super villains and mole men.
So it's time for YOU to save the world! Yes, you - the useless heroes. The heroes who, basically, suck. Normal Man, Screaming Coward, Dance Mix Man, etc. Anything you can think up that is useless but oddly useful sometimes (or, say, useful added to useless Like a Superman who tends to lose control of bodily functions).
Sexual metaphor characters are discouraged, since Hard Man and Nipple Monster Lass and the like are too sad (and too easy to make).
System: Risus. 15 dice. No upper limit for dice in any talent. Go nuts :)
Time: Occassional Tuesdays, 10pm EST.
This is because Tuesdays tend to be the day off that RL gets me the most often, so it won't be every week.
The first session will be a supervillain rampage the PCs all see and decide to stop. From there, who knows? I'll add a forum to the suddenlanch forums ,and people can post pcs there.

A new game!
With more than one player!
Havoc, a space opera style grunge sci fi game set on earth, the present year. Details are on the forum, in the Havoc category.
Game time will be Monday nights, 10pm EST, in #game1 natch. I'll be GMing it. Sparkie will provide dice, and insists they get used for this game since he's feeling neglected and wants to be hated again.
System used will be Risus.
5 players will be the max. Game begins on June 20th, though I may run a session on the 13th for players who want to rp their PCs meeting together after the Session 0.9 post on the forum.

How's everybody doin'?
Remember me? Okay, I've been a huge flake as of late. Disappearing for long stretches of time... That's normally the thing that makes me angry when other people do it, so I feel deeply sorry for doing it to you guys. Granted, I'm not that important a person, so most of you probably don't care too much about it. Even so, I'll just let you know that going to college full-time during the day and working a full-time job at night kind of kills a good deal of the free time. Add to that the fact that I finally found an MMORPG that my good friends who up until now wouldn't play MMORPGs are now willing to play with me (Guild Wars), and you can see why I haven't been showing up in IRC very much lately.
Despite that, there are times when I'm home, online, and not doing much. Usually these are the times after I get home from closing the store I now work at (sometime after 9pm EST, depending on how long it takes me to count all the funds, prepare the next day's deposit, etc. etc.), since the affore-mentioned friends tend to not stay up as late as I do and are either asleep or too tired to play by then. So, thinking about it, I wondered why I haven't been visiting #game1 more. Since I haven't been able to come up with much of a reason not to, I think I'll start showing up more often.
So, what's new? I know 4ways died, and I see there's going to be a "Fin..." sequel, but I was wondering if there are any games going on that I might be able to get involved with. I've been bitten by the Roleplaying Bug again recently due to a few attempts friends have been making recently to run things. I could really go for a nice Unkown Armies game... preferrably an Alcar-run Unknown Armies game. In reality, though, I know that Alcar is probably really busy most of the time, so I wouldn't want to try to pressure him into running something he doesn't feel like/have time for. Therefore, I'll take what I can get.

Mortal City
The La Fin De Siecle sequel. Set 4 years later, with the PC having become a model student and recluse after saving the world and trying to somehow forget all that had happened and live in a "sane" world. MJ and Nora took a year off to travel, and then did a year of school. The second year is almost about to begin in Bellona, a suburb/city/town of Municiburg that isn't (yet) part of the 'burg. MJ has worked at the dojo, a store, and is going out with her BF Vance more more often and slowly but surely getting a normal life again.
Kind of a pity for her that the second campaign will begin then, eh? :)
In tone, it's going to be a bit dark. (No surprise there ...) And far more low powered and low-key compared to the first campaign. Perhaps they'll save their lives, save others who need it, help the city and themselves. They saved the world once, after all. Too often and it'd get repetitive :)

4 Ways is Dead and Gone.....
Sorry. But RL sucked up too much time in the past few months. So, for all who are curious, here is what would have been....
* Defeat of the Artificer. AKA Reed. (*grins*)
* Waynes return, since the wayne you killed and turned into Glomp was actually a result of the symbiote spawning. He was going to go all Batman as a fascist and end up with a Robin style sidekick and all the intimations of "friendship" with a young ward.
* Invasion from an Alternate Earth. Basically, Evil versions of the PCs one they'd all reached about 60 exp. Consider the PCs, and what evil versions of them could be like ... was going to be an erosion of public trust for the PCs to rebuild.
* The Protectorate was going to return, and clash with the PCs for their title as the heroes of the city. Void, leading them, was going to be Evil now. (Actually they *all* were. Dopplegangers by an enemey known as th Darkness, the creature that killed the Cthulhu Mythos. It was going ot be used as an epic Save the Universe plot, if players wanted. If not, the real protectore would have shown up and saved the city at the last moment ... or would they be the real protectorate?
There were also subplots invoving Manus's brother, Mitch's real nature and his fathre and adoptive parents, Johnny and the fact that he couldn't be hurt and some ramficationds of that, and Tina and Mitch dating. Plus a subplot involving AI independance and Victor and a magical version of Greenpeace. There were likely more plots, but I have forgotten them.

So ... 25 sessions done....
25 sessions so far for La Fin De Siecle. Thinga are geting dark, several plots unfold, innocents get caught in the crossfire - well, I'm having fun at any rate. A lot of it turns out darker than was ever intended (especially Kiesha's thoughts about school shootings). I'm mostly just rolling with it and seeing where everything goes. The next plot SHOULD see more development of the MCs family and the family of her friends. Flesh them out, give them some more screen time and the like.
Mind you, having MJs brother be attacked by demons was an odd way to go about doing it, but one of the themes of this campaign is what it costs to save the world. Most saviours die, some live to see their dreams corrupted. Sometimes things turn out right, in the end at least. And everything has a price, in order to be worth something. So it's going to be dark in some places, as the PC goes beyond gut "of course the world should be saved!" into concrete reasons, perhaps doing the right thing just because it is thr right thing.
I have no idea how it will end, in a specific sense. We have begun planning the second, more low-key campaign slated for a few years down the road, game wise. (And definitely with a break between both in RL.) I expect this present camapign to last between 50 and 75 sessions if all goes well and Chaos and I both keep enjoying it.
The second is still mostly vague ideas in our heads and we'll see where it goes from the end of the first campaign. The fact that we're seriously planning the second one is just cool, for me at least. I seldom even consider that (save for Ios, which was plotted out as 3 "books") and will have to see where the first campaign takes up, and what's left of everyone by the end of it . . . which us luck. I suspect we may need it :)

Fin De Siecle Summaries
Cuz someone asked, I added them. I'll try and have them done by GM one week, player the next or something for fun. Since there is only one player, it'll work.
For those who were curious, the game is Wednesdays, after Nostalgia ends, and other odd nights of the week, generally starting at 1am EST.

Fun in a new game....
Games are fun to run. I wouldn't do them otherwise. But this new game is, oddly, more fun than most. Some of that, of course, is the sheeer newness, and the fact that it began a lot like UH (make stuff up as we go along). And it's working. There's moons, and pancakes (which WAS an entirely unconscious bit of stuff Chaos, but cool anyway :p) and the fate of the world mirroring (in some senses) the PCs family.
I think a lot of it is because there IS just one player, and just one character. Despite my best intentions families get pushed aside in games in favour of other plots, other events, and the fact that there is only so much time during a session. (It's one of the primary reasons AA will be the PCs all *as* the family, to avoid that pitfall, and of course to create awesome RP possibibilities :p). But MJ's family is ALIVE. There's plots, secrets, relatives, friends ... in greater depth than I yet know, and more real than in most games. I actually have TIME to devote to her family life, what's happening it it and her friends. It's a fun change, and a welcome enough.
Heck, it's enough of one that adding another player would take some doing, for me. I wouldn't want to lose what the game already has interaction-wise. Hmm. Well, the timing of the game makes another player unlikely anyway, so it may never come up.
Until then: "Godzila healed me!"

Campaign Idea
The Other Side of the Rainbow...
A game idea (currently just an idea) involving the fairy tale/fable/mythical lands of yore. All the realms of fantasy (from Oz to Neverland to Narnia) can be found, all of them in the same realm and existing side by side. But they aren't the lands of song and story. They're the reality of those lands, the world where Oz got Dorothy pregnant, and where Azlan was hunted down and skinned by agents of the Empire, a powerful and terrible forced (aka the British Empire. Azlan met fox hunters. They won.)
Most of the creatures of legend aren't as powerful as they used to be, according to their own legends. (No one knows why.) They are more powerful in our world than in theirs, and have always been so, especially in our imaginations. But when their lands began to die, they looked for new sources of power, new ways to fight the Empire, and pulled in raw imagination. Children went catonic , and permanently feed people or places the energy to withstand the Empire. It's a holding action at best, and the various mythological beings and creatures are getting scared.
What is NOT in the other world: Gods. Olympus, The Heavenly Throne, the Jade Throne, etc. may all exist (and probably do, since if one imaginary thing exists then, well, there's no reason all the others don't as well), but they're somewhere else and don't influence any events in Earth or the OtherLand. Well, not until the Empire finds a way to reach them.....
What is here: Folk and fairy tale creatures, primarily. Oz, Narnia etc. are relative newcomers, and not that powerful despite the stories (read: lies) written about them by people of our world. Middle Earth doesn't exist, because it wasn't intended primarily for younger readers. It's children who initially bring the other worlds to life, or so it's commonly believed. You can fund the hundred acre wood, Tam Lin, vampires and what have you, but in general the older the myth the power likely it is to be found and the more powerful it is. (So the Big Bad Wolf could be killed, but there are a lot of them out there....)
The Empire is basically Rome crossed with the darker side of Britain (& c.) colonialism and Disney Corp. They want to make the world of fables and dreams into what THEY think it should be. They're all adults, and they're pretty damn ruthless.
Humans who come across to the OtherLand are powerful, as the OtherLand creatures are in our world. In many cases, this means they get magic or whatever. Most vampires and other transformed humans are humans who went across and can't come back and tend to be very powerful and dangerous. The Empire has used this to their advantage, and their most terrible warriors are the masters of the Word. (They're lawyers. That should be explanation enough.)
The problem: I do not know enough about Narnia etc. to do justice to them. Plus, other myths (Japanese critters and the like) I don't know too much about, and they'd be around as well most likely.
I'd probably use a variant of Risus, because it's a really simple rpg and simple is better in fitting in with the ideas of a fairy tale style land. (Variant being it would have some form of health system.)
I also have no idea what PCs would be :P Humans, yes. But kids? Adults? A mixture of both? No idea. Thoughts welcomed :P
For best creation, it'd have to be a wiki ....

Merry Xmas. You know. The usual
Just a quick thingy to wish people a happy christmas. Wow. That was fast.
Erm, and new year too, I suppose, while I'm at it. And Valentine's Day, and birthday ... okay, I'll stop now .
FYI, Spark'll be offline while I'm in Victoria (due to computer being shut off and getting a much needed rest from being left on a lot), and I won't be on IRC. I'll probbaly check this blog and the message board a few times but that's it.
Have fun :)

Amazing Adventuers!
Yes! It's the title of the next game. Rejoice!
More information can be found on the forums. While 4 Ways is likely to last until april or so, given the plot, this'll be the game that cometh next. Why up so early? Mostly to begin ideas. The super spy/Johnny Quest/Venture Bros style setting should be fun, but I really don't know much about it. So ... make stuff up! Add people, places etc. even if you might not be playing.
It'll be fun! Honest.

GAME TIMES
Okay. So. Games (mine at least) will be off from the 20th of December until the 10th of January
So there'll be LOLAD on the 13th and 4 Ways 14th of December. Despite having the 20th and 21st possibly off from work, games won't run then since players have RL and Xmas and all that. The first week of January is going to be work and classes and getting all that crap sorted out, so there won't be classes that week.
4 Ways will resume on January 11th. Since Reflections (which I plan to play in, though work may get in the way some weeks :)) will be on Wednesdayd and I have a class Monday nights, game times for LOLAD will be infrequent and depend upon what days f Thurs-Sun I get off.
Given a choice between Reflections and LOLAD, I'd choose the former. Why? because I haven't played in a game in a very long time, and am looking forward to it for a nice chance of pace. In all honesty, much as I like LoLaD, I'd rather play in Reflections than run another game. I've haven't just ran one game in a long time, and it will be a fun change of pace.
Toss comments about this up here, or in #game1. Toodles.

Last Flight of the Golden Condor
Last Flight of the Golden Condor
(December 2004)
It started when they told him he didn't exist. That was the beginning. Only his friend saw him, and his friend was convinced he was a giant bird most of the time anyway. Everyone else just laughed, even the man with the rubber ducky. They all said he was just another delusion, and BB was given more drugs.
The drugs never really worked. BB was nuttier than a fruitcake, which is generally considered almost impossible given the real ingredients of fruitcake. So they resorted to peer pressure, the people of the Street. They told BB over and over that he wasn't a bird, that his friend wasn't real.
It ended when got angry. It wasn't right, these people saying he didn't exist, treating these poor children like puppets and not people. So on the day BB was forced to agree, the day the broke the yellow-bellied kid for the final time, Snuffy cried. A single tear, suspended between earth and heaven.
All eyes locked on it, watching it fall. No one noticed the knife, until it was too late. In some ways, it had always been too late. The grouchy kid died first, and the "real" vampire who counted socks, and the two queer kids with the duck. Snuffy enjoyed their faces when he cut the duck apart before their eyes. The fat kid who ate all the cookies took more time, just because even Snuffy had trouble actually finding his neck.
Doctor Gina went quick, and the rest of the staff the same. They tried to run too late, not believing in him until they had no choice. Mister Hooper tried to get BB to call 911.
"You want me to use the phone Looper?"
"Hooper! It's Hooper! Hooper!" Hooper began screaming at him, for the last time as it turned out.
BB looked at the body, and at Snuffy. "You snuffed Hooper."
Snuffed nodded gravely.
"I was lying to them," BB said. "I really believed."
"Can you tell me how to get, how to get blood stains off?" Snuffy sang.
BB shook his head, his pants staining yellow. "C - cold water. C is for cold," he managed, and lashed out spastically, sending the knife flying.
Snuffy watched it fall and drew his second knife. "I have two tusks," he explained. And the it got very bad, very bad indeed.
The police found BB, curled up beside a knife, and sobbing. He wasn't dead, not yet, but cut all over, as if he'd tried to skin himself alive and failed. He was screaming about his missing feathers, the big boy, as they tried to stop the blood from flowing. He died, the killer, singing that it wasn't easy being red, and no one ever asked questions about a second knife. No one heard the laughter in the air, from the creature who wasn't there but everyone agreed the street was haunted by something that left sesame seeds everywhere.

Nothing happened.
The end of the world, and no one came.
That is the sum of my report, sir.
I never saw the eyes.
The town of Millhaven is small and it's bleak and it's cold. But there is nothing special there, nothing of note.
A child of Norn, the raven-girl, the one without an angel. Why can't I speak?
The demon didn't manage to become a god. We don't know why he failed.
The FBI sent someone, with guns. I'm trying to tell you.
It seems to me that it was all a lie. There were no faces in the dark.
Sometimes it does turn out to be nothing. A blip in the cosmic radar, even if the First Man's sister was there. We never did have proof of it, or that she exists.
What did he do to my head? Why can't I say anything?
"I am the man for whom no god waits". Sir? Oh. Something that came to me. I don't know why. I do feel funny.
Try and read between the lines! Try.
I gues that means it's over, sir.
I saw the boy with the hole in his head. All God's children they all gotta diiiie!
The report is on your desk. No one to recruit, no one to deal with. The sleepers must have cleaned up the mess. Thank you, sir. It was a pleasure doing business with you. When next you want to end the world, let me know.
